Virat Kohli's scalp remains a must-have wicket for any bowler on their bucket list. While few have found instant success, several have over the years struggled and only recently been able to achieve the daunting task.

After missing out on Kohli's wicket multiple times, Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan Miraz managed to get the better of the former India captain last year in the second Test at Dhaka. Miraz knocked over Kohli with a dream delivery that left the Indian batter stunned for a moment.

Despite the 25-year-old claiming five wickets in the first innings, India managed to win the Test by three wickets after monumental effort from Ravichandran Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer, chasing 145.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, the bowling all-rounder explained how Kohli always was his dream wicket.

I always wanted to Kohli's wicket: Hasan

"I always wanted to take his wicket. He was saved by the review in Hyderabad [in 2017]. [Litton Das] Dada unfortunately dropped him during the ODI series [in December 2022]. It was a great feeling to get him out."

Interestingly, Kohli and Hasan were involved in heated exchanges on the field as well. However, post the conclusion of the two-Test series, the Indian star batter gifted Hasan a signed match jersey as a souvenir.

The all-rounder further spoke about his preparation for the upcoming World Cup 2023, stating how he remains unsure of a place in the squad, and does not look far ahead. Hasan's immediate series will be the Asia Cup 2023, which starts August 30.

Selection is not in my hands: Hasan

"We are five months out, so I don't know if I am playing the World Cup. It is not in my hands. But I am preparing. If I put in the right amount of hard work, I believe it will come in handy. Whether it is this World Cup or the next one, or some other series or tournament. That's where my focus is."

Bangladesh are yet to announce their World Cup squad; however, they have already named a strong 17-member team for the Asia Cup 2023, of which Mehidy Hasan Miraz is a part of.

The Bangla Tigers will begin their Asia Cup campaign against Afghanistan at Pallekele on August 31.
