Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan took to social media ‘X’ to express his disappointment with Hardik Pandya's performance as captain of Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing IPL 2024 season.

Following MI’s third consecutive loss against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Monday, Pathan lambasted Pandya's batting, bowling decisions, and leadership tactics with a series of multiple tweets.

During Mumbai's batting, Pathan highlighted the top-order collapse, with Trent Boult dismissing key batters including Rohit Sharma, Naman Dhir, and Dewald Brevis. Despite a promising partnership between Pandya and Tilak Varma, Pandya's dismissal by Yuzvendra Chahal dealt a blow to Mumbai's innings.

Pathan also criticized Pandya's handling of star bowler Jasprit Bumrah, noting that in previous matches, Bumrah was held back until the fourth over. Against the Royals, Pandya introduced Bumrah early in the second over, a decision Pathan deemed overdue given the situation.

In a series of tweets, Pathan emphasized the importance of Pandya leading from the front to earn respect from his team, suggesting that Pandya needs to take more decisive actions as captain.

The defeat against RR leaves MI languishing at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table, while the Royals sit comfortably at the top with three consecutive wins.

MI's next match on Sunday, April 7 against Delhi Capitals(DC) at the Wankhede Stadium is crucial as they seek to break their losing streak.
