'He Walks The Talk'- Zaheer Khan Lauds Skipper Rohit Sharma Ahead Of ENG Tests

Former Indian legendary pacer Zaheer Khan firmly believes that leading the team from the front as a pure batter has always been the essence of Rohit Sharma's captaincy, and he wants the Indian skipper to emulate the same against England.

India will clash with England in a pivotal five-game Test series in less than three days. The opening game is scheduled in Hyderabad on the 25th of January.

However, ahead of the series, India faced a major setback as batting sensation Virat Kohli opted out of the first two Tests, citing personal reasons. Thus, the responsibility to keep the scoreboard ticking has fallen on Rohit Sharma's shoulders. Moreover, as an opening batter, Sharma's significance in the batting order increases tenfold.

However, former Indian fast-bowling great Zaheen Khan does not believe the leadership will get in the way of Rohit Sharma's batting prowess. Instead, Khan feels leading the team with the bat has been the hallmark of Rohit's captaincy.

Zaheer Khan explained that Rohit Sharma is a leader who walks the talk, meaning the skipper leads by example by stepping up to his role as a pure batter. He did the same in the ODI World Cup 2023, wherein Rohit set the tone of the innings with his aggressive intent at the top.

"That has been the hallmark of his captaincy and he leads from the front as seen in the World Cup. He walks the talk. When you have a leader walking the talk, it gives you better efficiency within the whole group. So, I think he's a proven leader." Zaheer Khan said via Jio Cinema.

Needless to say, Rohit Sharma's impact as a batter is much more significant than his role as a captain. When he gets into his groove, he doesn't stop until he gets to a big score.

Rohit's recent ton against Afghanistan in the third T20I is a perfect testament to his aggressive and dominant mindset. Fortunately, the home condition advantage will play in Sharma's favour.

With the WTC finals on the line, both sides are expected to come out all guns blazing in this five-game Test series, thus setting the stage for an exciting and thrilling contest for the fans.
