Pakistan succumbed to a two-wicket defeat in the penultimate Super Four fixture of the Asia Cup 2023 as they bowed out of the tournament in a way not many expected.

Their win seemed like a formality at the end of the first innings as they had set a 252-run target for Sri Lanka to chase in 42 overs. The hosts through their remarkable batting display won the humdinger, entering into the final of the ongoing Asia Cup where they will meet India.

While people must have been thinking that Babar Azam's ordeal was only limited to the field, this was not the case as the Pakistan skipper found himself in an embarrassing situation leading up to the post-match press conference.

As revealed by a journalist Shihab Ahsan Khan on X, Babar was made to wait as there were not enough reporters present for the press conference to begin.

In his tweet, the journalist mentioned that the PCB media manager went to call a few reporters to the media box and the presser only began after a few minutes as Babar spent his time sitting alone until then.

"What happened tonight was disgraceful for Pakistan skipper Babar Azam. He came for press conference after the presentation. Only me & Mahrus Prottoy from Allrounder BD were present there. PCB media manager had to go to press box to call others. Babar was sitting alone," the journalist tweeted.

"After few minutes 5-6 journalist came & then press conference took place. it was disgraceful. I was surprised, as there was no interest in press conference even for Pakistani journalists!"

Pakistan's exit from the Asia Cup has increased the noise on Babar's captaincy. The Men in Green will now be seen playing in the ODI World Cup 2023, scheduled to start in India from October 5.
