Fierce rivals on the field, Pakistan and India players, however, remain gentlemen off it and form a mutual bond of respect and admiration for each other. The Pakistani camp is fond of modern-day Indian legend Virat Kohli and his attitude and commitment towards the game.

One of the players who admire Kohli immensely is Pakistan's young spin allrounder Shadab Khan. During a media interaction, Shadab spoke of his experience of meeting and interacting with Kohli whenever the two nations have faced each other at the World Cups and Asia Cup events.

Shadab was one of the Pakistani players to interact with Kohli in Pallekele after the initial group stage encounter of the Asia Cup 2023 in September had gotten rained out and laid bare his deep-felt affection for the India cricketer.

Shadab Khan Lauds Virat Kohli

"Virat Kohli is a big legend. The way he talks and treats people, the way he helps players and welcomes everyone is so nice. He is very humble and a very nice guy."

Kohli had taken a leave of absence ahead of the start of the five-Test series against England in Hyderabad and also skipped the following fixture in Vizag. Currently abroad, the 35-year-old will miss the next three Tests also as confirmed by the BCCI on Saturday.

"Virat Kohli will remain unavailable for selection for the remainder of the series due to personal reasons. The Board fully respects and supports Mr. Kohli’s decision," the board said in a media release.

Speculations have been rife if Kohli and his wife and film star Anushka Sharma are anticipating the birth of their second child. The couple tied the knot in 2017 and gave birth to their little daughter Vamika in early 2021.
