Shubman Gill is fast increasing his stature in world cricket and he has taken another big step in that direction with a century against England at Dharamsala. James Anderson eventually cleaned him up on 110 and was quite pumped up as a spicy battle of words was brewing up between the two with Shubman Gill adopting aggressive option against the veteran.

It was a day dominated by India though and Shubman Gill opened up about his century and wicket, but refrained from saying anything substantial on the spicy conversation with Anderson.

Shubman Gill mentioned that it was his father's dream and vision to see him playing for India and reckoned that he will be pretty proud. The right-handed batter also added that he decided to dance down the track against Anderson because the ball was not doing much and he wanted to put Anderson under pressure.

“Yeah, definitely, it was his (father) dream for me to play at this level. It was his vision and I feel he will be proud to see my play at this level. (On stepping out against Anderson) I thought the ball wasn’t doing much at that time. Instinctively, I had to go after him to put him under the pressure."

The Indian number 3 also stated that he did not sight the ball properly that got the better of him but added that he is feeling good about his game and is pretty confident.

"I feel good every time I go out to bat. I was stuck in the middle at one stage and I missed out on a big one today. I didn’t sight the ball well which I got OUT. But I’m feeling good while batting."

On his conversation with Anderson though, Gill said that it is better to keep the chat between the two private which is quite natural as these on-field banter and quite natural and adds some spice to the contest.

(On the chat between him and Anderson) "It would be better to keep that chat in private.”

At the end of Day 2, India are leading England by 255 runs with two wickets still in hand, and England need to be at their best in the rest of the game, if they want to end the series on a high.
