Recently, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria voiced his concerns about the workload of Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, urging Mumbai Indians to carefully manage the speedster's participation in the upcoming IPL 2024 season.

Kaneria emphasized the critical role Bumrah plays in Team India and highlighted the need to prevent potential injuries that could affect both the player and the national squad.

"Taking proper care of Jasprit Bumrah is vital for his enduring career due to injury susceptibility. Mumbai Indians must recognize this and limit his participation in IPL matches. Overexertion in the IPL can harm both Bumrah and India significantly. He is a gifted player for future generations and a great asset to Team India," said Kaneria.

Bumrah, who returned to action in August last year after recovering from a back injury, has been in exceptional form in international cricket. Despite missing the T20 World Cup in 2022 due to the same back issue, the 30-year-old showcased his skills in the ODI World Cup 2023 and the recent Test series against South Africa.

Kaneria praised Bumrah's standout performance in the Cape Town Test, where he played a pivotal role in India's seven-wicket victory over South Africa.

"Bumrah performed exceptionally well, displaying remarkable consistency across various formats. Regarded as one of the finest bowlers of this generation, he is the go-to player for Rohit Sharma when aiming for victory," Kaneria remarked.

The former spinner lauded Bumrah's contribution to India's latest triumph in Cape Town, highlighting his crucial six-wicket haul in South Africa's second innings, which led to the opposition being bundled out for 153.

With the T20 World Cup on the horizon, Kaneria stressed the importance of India strategically managing Bumrah's workload in the coming months. Considering the speedster's history of injuries, the suggestion to rest him for a few matches during the IPL 2024 season aims to ensure he remains fit and ready for crucial international assignments.
