Babar Azam's Pakistan Out Of 2023 World Cup? What If PAK vs NZ Is Abandoned Due To Rain

After four consecutive defeats, Pakistan finally came back to the winning track, securing a thumping seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in their last World Cup game in Kolkata. However, Babar Azam's men have only six points to their name, which is why the next match against New Zealand is a must-win clash for them to stay alive in the competition.

But, unfortunately for Pakistan, rain might prevent them from getting two crucial points, with inclement weather predicted in Bengaluru for Saturday.

As per Weather.com, the city might experience scattered thunderstorms on Saturday, resulting in a rain-curtailed affair between the two formidable teams. In such a scenario, we shouldn't be surprised if the game is called off following incessant downpour.

What If PAK vs NZ Is Abandoned Due To Rain?

Considering the inclement weather conditions in Bengaluru, we might witness an abandoned fixture between Pakistan and New Zealand on Saturday. If the game is called off, both teams will add one point to their tally. So, while New Zealand will have nine points, Pakistan will have seven points to their name with only one game remaining.

However, they won't instantly be eliminated and would like several results to go in their favour to make a miraculous wild card entry to the semifinals.

Besides winning against England, Pakistan must hope Australia to lose from England and Afghanistan. Furthermore, they will back the Netherlands and South Africa to defeat the Afghans in their next games, while hoping Sri Lanka to upset the Kiwis in the 41st league-stage fixture of the tournament.

Having said that, we have to admit that this fixture is a do-or-die one for Babar Azam and co, and if they lose, they will most likely be eliminated from the competition.
