Women's Asia Cup 2022: Harmanpreet Kaur hails team's adaptability to different surfaces

Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur expressed her delight after players aced the challenge to succeed in slow pitches in Sylhet, after playing for a good amount of time in England. 

India secured five victories in the six league matches and topped the points table, and then sealed a semi-final game against Thailand. The Women in Blue will now face Sri Lanka in the Women's Asia Cup final on Saturday (October 15). 

The Indian team played the white-ball series against England until September 24 and then featured in their opening game of the Asia Cup on October 1. 

However, they prepared themselves for the tournament with a solitary training session. On their road to the final contest, they lost only against Pakistan. The six-time Asia Cup champions have delivered all-round performances, with spinners at top of their game to restrict the opposition to a low score. 

In this regard, Kaur was impressed with the players' adaptability to different surfaces and weather, which has now helped them staking a claim for the seventh title in the continental event. 

"Conditions and wickets were totally different [in England], and it is totally different here. We only got one day to change our gears.

"In England, we were getting good batting tracks and the ball was swinging. But when we got here, we had to change our plans. But the good thing was that all the players took the challenge."

In their last encounter against Sri Lanka, Indian team secured a 41-run victory and will be upbeat about their abilities. 

However, the Islanders are coming into this game with a nerve-wracking victory over Pakistan in the semi-finals, and will certainly have enough composure in crunch moments. It will be interesting to see whether Sri Lanka can create history by clinching their maiden trophy in the Women's Asia Cup history.
