Virat Kohli, one of the most successful global cricketing figures, went through a prolonged rough patch when runs dried up from his bat. However, even during the most challenging times, his acclaimed teammate Rohit Sharma apparently backed him the most as revealed by a former India chief selector in a sting operation.

India’s one of the most successful cricket icons in the world, Virat Kohli, achieved enormous success in his decade-long international career. However, after the pandemic, the batter hit a rough patch that prolonged to as many as three years.

However, despite a serious slump, the BCCI backed Kohli wholeheartedly due to his past accolades. Needless to say, the former Indian captain couldn’t escape criticism, and several times, critics called for his imminent exit.

Regardless, at arguably one of the most challenging times of his career, Kohli found a supporter in his veteran teammate and ally, Rohit Sharma.

Former Indian cricketer and chief selector Chetan Sharma was caught in a sting operation a while ago when he made this startling revelation.

Sharma, unaware of being videotaped by the journalist posing as a stranger, said that when things went sideways with Kohli, Rohit stood like a rock for him.

Interestingly, Chetan Sharma’s revelation came at a time when rumors of a rift between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma following the World Cup 2019 semi-final exit were rife. Apparently, the duo couldn’t meet eye to eye owing to differences in opinions.

It reached a point where head coach Ravi Shastri had to intervene and play mediator.

Of course, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma refuted the rumors of an alleged rift time and again and confirmed absolute camaraderie.

That being said, the revelation by Chetan Sharma only underscores the sportsmanship and mutual respect between the two senior members of the Indian cricket team as they continue to lead the side.
