The India tour of South Africa in 2021 was full of action and a bit of sledging. Marco Jansen, who made his debut in the same series was furious and was sledging the Indian batters while bowling in the second Test of the series.

Jansen was not getting results for his peachy deliveries while Jasprit Bumrah was successfully ducking the short deliveries. The left-arm seamer could not stop himself from staring and chirping at Bumrah. In the following Test, Jasprit Bumrah bowled him with a ripper, which was enough to shut the young Proteas bowler.

In the first Test of the India tour to South Africa 2023-24, the Indian team were miserable with the bat and could not even cross the 300-run mark. The only player who stood up from the Indian contingent was KL Rahul, as he went on to slam a hundred and took India's total to 245 runs in the first innings.

How did Marco Jansen take revenge for what happened in 2022?

Rahul had to play with the tail and he was counter-attacking the South African bowlers, as there was no one reliable on the other end. Jasprit Bumrah, who stood for some time and helped out Rahul to keep smashing boundaries, got dismissed by Marco Jansen. This is how he avenges what happened back in 2022.

Despite getting Bumrah's wicket, Marco was not as effective as other South African fast bowlers and again sledged against KL Rahul. The Indian batter answered him with a smile, which frustrated him even more. Marco did put up a performance with the bat scoring 84 runs helping his team gain a massive lead of 163 runs.

Even in the second innings, he took three wickets including Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. Throughout this Test, Marco Jansen delivered with both bat and ball and helped his team win the first game in the two-match series, spoiling India's dream of winning the first-ever Test Series in South Africa.
