Former South African pacer Dale Steyn has picked the top five speedsters in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022.

Speaking to the ICC, the former pace sensation revealed the top five bowlers who could make their mark in the World Cup in Australia. Among his picks was Australian star Mitchell Starc, Pakistan's Shaheen Shah Afridi, England's Mark Wood and the South African duo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje.

Starc remains a bonafide wicket taker with experience of the Australian conditions. He has won two World Cups as well. It is hardly surprising that Steyn has picked him as one of the difference makers in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Shaheen Afridi is coming back from a lengthy injury lay-off and it remains to be seen whether he can get back to his best.

England's Mark Wood produced a spectacular spell against Ireland where he bowled all 24 balls at a speed of 140 kph or higher. Steyn believes that Wood could take England all the way in the World Cup.

"Mark Wood is a favourite of mine from England. I think he's the first fast bowler to bowl all 24 balls in his spell of four overs over 140 kilometres an hour.

"He didn't look to bowl one slower ball, he’s just absolutely fantastic. He wants to rush batters, bowls a great yorker and a fantastic bouncer, and I think if England are going to go all the way, Mark Wood’s going to take them there.”

Finally, Rabada and Nortje are the spearheads of the South African bowling attack and they have been on top of their game for a while. They will be hoping to lead the Proteas to glory in Australia.
