Former Pakistan star Shahid Afridi has taken a swipe at Babar Azam following his comments prior to the clash against Bangladesh in the ongoing tri-series involving New Zealand as well.

Speaking to the media prior to the game, Azam revealed that he plans to set a target of around 160 for the Bangladesh team to chase.

Afridi responded with claims that Pakistan and Azam will need to be braver and more ambitious if they want to do well against the elite teams. In all fairness, a target of 160 is quite chase-able in T20 cricket and Pakistan will have to aim higher.

"Babar must come out of this average mindset and think big. If scoring 160 runs for the target against Bangladesh was his big intent, then what is he going to do against stronger teams," said Afridi.

Babar Azam and co. are currently gearing up for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia later this month and they will certainly be one of the favourites heading into the competition.

Despite losing the Asia Cup 2022 earlier this summer, Pakistan have shown impressive pedigree in the shortest format of the game and they are perfectly capable of giving any side a run for their money.

On top of that, both Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are in red hot form and they will fancy their chances against any bowling attack.
