Big Bash League (BBL) club Adelaide Strikers have struck a one-year stint with former Australian paceman Peter Siddle. Siddle will play his sixth consecutive season with the Strikers in the upcoming BBL 2022-23 edition.

Under Siddle in BBL 11, the Adelaide-based side reached the final of the competition but failed to lift the coveted trophy, however, the skipper led from the front, picking up 30 wickets, including a five-wicket haul in The Challenger.

Overall, in 68 BBL matches, the 38-year-old has taken 90 wickets. A crowd favourite across Australia, Siddle won the BBL trophy with the Strikers in the 2017-18 edition.

Siddle represented Australia in 67 Tests, 20 ODIs, and 2 T20Is.

Siddle, in a statement, maintained that he is looking forward for a fruitful season with Strikers.

“I love the Strikers and playing in front of some of the best fans in the League at the best ground in the world.

There have been some nice additions to our squad since last season while keeping the core group together and I am excited for us to build on our finals appearance last season and to see what the group can do together in BBL|12.”

Head Coach Jason Gillespie sounded pleased with Siddle's return.

"Sidds’ is a great leader in our side and it’s great to have his experience amongst our group, helping to mentor our young fast bowling brigade,”

The Strikers BBL 12 campaign gets underway on December 14 against the Sydney Sixers.
