In the clash against Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants' captain KL Rahul smashed his maiden half-century of the Indian Premier League 2023. During his knock at Ekana, Rahul completed 4000 runs in the league, becoming the fastest to reach the milestone in the IPL. However, the LSG skipper completed his fifty off 40 deliveries on a track that hasn't been true to batters.

During the course of his knock, the LSG skipper also completed 2000 IPL runs as captain. Before captaining Lucknow, Rahul has also led Punjab Kings from 2020-21.

After being asked to bat first, Rahul started off his innings with in-form Kyle Mayers and studded a 53-run partnership for the opening wicket before Harpreet Brar dismissed the latter.

The prolific Indian batter shared brief stands with Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya and Nicholas Pooran. However, he witnessed all the three batters walk back to the hut on loose shots, which resulted in Rahul losing his tempo.

In the fag-end of the innings, Rahul got exemplary support from Marcus Stoinis, as the former put his foot on the peddle.

The LSG captain ended his day with the bat with a 56-ball 74, comprising eight fours and a solitary maximum.
