After going through a run of poor form that is heavily impacting his career, Jason Roy could lose his ODI spot too thinks former English cricketer Steve Harmison. Roy's career took a downhill last summer as he couldn't perform at his best striking at less than a hundred in T20 cricket.

He was subsequently dropped from the Three Lions squad which featured in the T20 World Cup last year that happened Down Under. Luck has not been his friend as an injury to Jonny Bairstow made way for Alex Hales instead of him.

However, the English management confirmed that they are going to back Roy in the One-Day format as they wish to give him proper chance.

But now, he has a lot to prove as Bairstow could be coming back anytime soon with his only potential chance being the upcoming South Africa tour, explains Harmison.

"With a World Cup around the corner, Jason's got to perform now.

"He's had a lot of people question him and a lot of people back him and I back Jason Roy to go out and score some runs.

"For me, he plays in these three ODIs and probably gets a little bit of a bump in the summer, but when Bairstow's fit then the question marks will come and if Jason Roy's still out of form then there will be changes afoot. There has to be."

England's tour of South Africa will comprise three ODIs beginning on 27th January.
