Wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik showered rich praise on his teammate by calling Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin a 'scientist' for discovering new things and adding new dimensions to his game with the bat and ball.

While speaking to Cricbuzz, Karthik said that Ashwin has played to his potential and maximized his talent over a period of time.

Karthik's remarks came after Ashwin struck his 13th Test half-century, scoring 58 in the first innings of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram on Day 2.

"(Ravichandran) Ashwin plays a lot of gully cricket in Chennai. He enjoys doing that even now when he comes back home. It's a lot of fun to watch him do all of that. When it comes to cricket, he is like a scientist. He keeps discovering new things about himself, be it bowling or batting. He has maximized his talent over a period of time," Karthik told Cricbuzz.

Ashwin, who is one of the best all-rounders to have ever played Test cricket for India, is widely regarded as one of the smartest cricketers by many experts around the globe for his cricketing genius.

At Stumps on Day 2, India have reduced Bangladesh to 133-8 in the first innings of the match, with 71 runs more to avoid follow-on. It would be great to watch what the visitors do on D, if they bowl out the home team before the follow-on score.
