Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar achieved a personal milestone in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), making his 150th appearance in the competition.

In doing so, he has now become the second pacer in IPL history to achieve the landmark of playing 150 IPL matches as he is only behind veteran Dwayne Bravo on the list.

Kumar made his IPL debut back in 2009 with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and has since been a constant attraction in the league. The 33-year-old played for RCB between 2009 and 2010, before moving to Pune Warriors India from 2011 to 2013, finally shifting his base to Hyderabad with SRH in 2014 for INR 4.25 crore.

Overall, in 150* IPL matches, Kumar has claimed 156 wickets at a miser economy of 7.35 with four five-wicket hauls. (*ongoing)

SRH purchased Kumar back in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction for INR 4.20 crore.

Fun Fact: Kumar back in 2016, became the third bowler in the IPL to win both the purple cap and the coveted title; Sohail Tanveer (2008) with Rajasthan Royals and RP Singh (2009) with Deccan Chargers.

Kumar captained SRH in the first match of IPL 2023, in the absence of Aiden Markram, who donned the hat in their second match.

As of writing, SRH after having a brisk start to their innings, have lost Mayank Agarwal to Andre Russell and are 46 for 1 in 4.1 overs.
