One of the biggest talking points with respect to the Pakistan cricket in the last year or so has been the controversy regarding left arm pacer Mohammad Amir. The 30 year old hasn't been considered for the national team since the last couple of years. He last played for Pakistan in a T20I against England two years ago in 2020.

Following that he made a controversial decision to retire from international cricket. However, he made it clear that he would be available when the previous regime's tenure would end. But it has been over a year since the management has changed and Amir is yet to feature in an international fixture for Pakistan.

My work is to select from players who are available for selection: Wasim

Mohammad Wasim, appearing on Pakistani journalist Hafiz Muhammed Imran's channel said that his work is to select players who make themselves available during his tenure and Amir didn't do so.

"Unfortunately, Mohammad Amir never made himself available in my tenure. He has taken retirement, so I never talked about him. When he is not available, what can I say. The rest, who are available, we do talk about them and consider them. But there is no such policy.”

Very recently after the Pakistan's squad was announced for the upcoming T20I World Cup, Mohammad Amir took a dig at the selector with a social media post. He claimed that the squad picked was cheap selection by the chief selector.

Pakistan will be looking to bounce back from their 3-4 loss against England at home  in the T20I tri-series featuring New Zealand and Bangladesh, which begins on October 7. The Babar Azam-led side will aim to improve their performances in the middle-orders before the T20I World Cup.
