Gujarat Titans number three Sai Sudharsan unfurled the innings of the match against Delhi Capitals in Delhi. The young batting star overcame early jitters, and formed crucial stands with Vijay Shankar and David Miller to guide his side past the finishing line in the penultimate over itself.

The win marked Gujrat Titans’ second in succession this IPL 2023 season, after they had defeated the Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the tournament.

Sai Sudharsan reveals his game plan after successful run-chase

Sudharsan arrived to the crease after Gujarat Titans opener Wriddhiman Saha was cleaned up by Capitals’ speed gun Anrich Nortje. The 22-year-old safeguarded his end of the wicket despite losing Shubman Gill and skipper Hardik Pandya a while later, and scored a well-crafted 62* off just 48 balls.

His match-winning effort fittingly earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ recognition.

After the contest, he claimed that his plan was to take the game deep after his side had lost a couple of wickets early on. He also added that he was a little nervous and was constantly thinking about doing the right thing. He said:

“Thanks for backing me, a little nervous. First time here. I was thinking about what has to be done right, was not under pressure. It was a little bit low and skidding low. My turn was to take the game deep. It was about weathering the storm early on, because it was seaming early on.”

The Gujarat Titans will now take on the KKR in their next IPL 2023 match on April 9. The contest is scheduled to be played at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
