Fakhar Zaman registered his second successive ODI ton to lift Pakistan 2-0 up in the five-match series against New Zealand. The opening batsman blasted 180* at the top of the order, as the ‘Men in Green’ hunted down their monstrous 337-run task with ease.

Zaman’s ton was the 10th of his ODI career, to go with his 15 half-centuries in the format. The 33-year-old also managed to join an elite list of all-time ODI batters with his latest effort.

Fakhar Zaman just behind Hashim Amla in all-time ODI record

When Fakhar Zaman reached 98*, he completed 3,000 runs in ODI cricket. Notably, the dynamic opening batter achieved the feat in just the 67th innings of his career, thus making him the second-joint fastest to do so.

He joined West Indies dynamic batsman Shai Hope, who also completed his 3,000 ODI runs in 67 innings.

Hashim Amla holds the all-time record, as the South African batting legend raced to 3,000 runs within the first 57 innings of his ODI career.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is the fourth quickest to scale the landmark (68 innings), while legendary West Indian Vivian Richards achieved the same in 69 innings.

Zaman, who made his ODI debut back during the 2017 Champions Trophy in England, has so far minted 3,082 runs at an average of 49.70. The cricketer will now turn up for Pakistan in their third ODI against the visiting New Zealand side on May 3.

Notably, the series serves as a testing ground for both teams ahead of this year’s ODI Cricket World Cup in India.
