During the ongoing IPL match between the Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Heinrich Klaasen went past the 3,000 run-mark in T20s and joined an elite list of South African cricketers to have achieved this feat.

An underrated South African batter, Klaasen went past the milestone in his 150th T20 innings. A clean striker of the ball, Klaasen has been a valuable player for South Africa and for franchises across the globe in the shortest format of the game.

The other established South African players to have crossed this illustrious landmark are AB de Villiers, Quinton de Kock, David Miller, JP Duminy, and Faf du Plessis.

Klaasen started his T20 career in 2011, and has represented South Africa at the international level and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Durban’s Super Giants, Titans, Rajasthan Royals and Guyana Amazon Warriors at the franchise and domestic level.

So far, Klaasen has accumulated 3,019 runs in T20s, which includes 18 fifties and a solitary century.

Talking about the match, Sunrisers are close to the 200-run mark, courtesy some sublime batting by the South African. Despite wickets tumbling at regular intervals, he stood at one end and has held the innings together.

At the time of writing, SRH are 191 for 6, with Klaasen batting on 51.
