IPL 2023| Wriddhiman Saha Motivates Himself From Ajinkya Rahane's Comeback

Veteran Indian wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha is only focused on doing well for his Indian Premier League franchise, the Gujarat Titans, even as his former colleagues like Ajinkya Rahane recently got a recall to the Test set-up.

Rahane was recently handed a return to the Test side following a gap of more than a year for the upcoming WTC final.

Like Rahane, the Bengal keeper was also dropped from the set-up in January 2022. But unlike his Mumbai counterpart, Saha was bluntly told by the Indian think-tank to consider retirement from cricket.

Now that Rahane has made a return, Saha was asked about his international ambitions by the media recently, but the veteran stumper shrugged it off, stating that he is only focused on doing well for the Gujarat Titans at this point in time.

"He (Rahane) might have been reconsidered because he has done well. But I’m only focused on doing well for GT as of now," said Wriddhiman Saha as quoted by the Indian Express.

Coming back to IPL 2023, Saha has been able to give brisk starts to his team, but has been unable to convert them into big knocks.

However, the right-hander feels that as long as he is helping provide his team the momentum, it does not matter how much he eventually scores.

"I always tried to give good start. I’m happy if I get the team momentum. A hundred does not matter if your team goes on to lose. I’m happy with scoring a 25 or 50 if the team wins."

In 7 matches, Saha has managed 141 runs at an average of 20.14 and a strike rate of 133.02, with his highest score being 47.
