Paarl Royals pummelled Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the 21st match of the SA20 as the former won by five wickets.

Paarl's bowlers inhibit Sunrisers

After opting to bat first, Sunrisers Eastern Cape found it hard to get going as the pitch at St George's Park proved to be difficult for shot-making.

Bjorn Fortuin continued with his knack of picking wickets in the powerplay as he got the better of the Sunrisers' latest hero Adam Rossington. Jordan Hermann too fell soon, however, the Eastern Cape no. 3 JJ Smuts moved towards reforming the innings.

Smuts' 49-ball 65 happened to be the only solace in the batting department as Paarl were provided with regular breakthroughs.

Eventually, the Sunrisers could only make 130 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs.

Buttler, Miller emerges triumphant

Amidst the falling wickets, Jos Buttler maintained a calm head as with his half-century the England white-ball captain did bulk of the scoring for the Paarl Royals till the 13th over.

However, as Buttler was outfoxed by Roelof van der Merwe, it added excitement into the game as the Royals were made to battle hard to score the remaining runs.

Nonetheless, David Miller did allow any upset to happen as his fireworks in the thick of his 37-run knock sealed the match for Paarl in the 19th over.
