Riding on the performances of Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner, Australia Women took an unassailable lead of 3-1 in the five-match T20I series against India on Saturday in Mumbai.

Australia continue dominance with bat

Invited to bat first, Alyssa Healy played the role of an aggressor to provide a good start. However, Mooney was dismissed for 2, while Healy (30*) sustained a calf strain, and returned to the dugout.

Soon, Tahlia McGrath was dismissed for 9 by Radha Yadav.  Nevertheless, the all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner finally returned to form and accelerated the team's run-scoring in the middle overs. She hit 42 off 27 and added 94 run-stand for the third wicket with Perry.

After Gardner's dismissal, Perry was sublime with her ball-striking capabilities, while getting optimum support from Grace Harris, yet again. Perry hit 72* off 42, while Harris remained unbeaten on 12-ball 27. Deepti Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for the Women in Blue with two scalps.

India fall short; Australia win the series

In response to the chase, Smriti Mandhana (16) started well but became a victim of Gardner. Likewise, Shafali Verma hit 20 off 16, but was dismissed before the culmination of powerplay overs.

Jemimah Rodrigues failed again to provide notable contribution, while only scoring 8. However, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Devika Vaidya resurrected the team's innings. During the 10th over mark, Kaur opted for an aggressive approach to score runs at a lavish rate. However, she was dismissed for a well-compiled 46 off 30 after her edge was holed out to Darcie Brown.

Vaidya (32) and Richa Ghosh (40*) tried well, but India fell short by seven runs. Gardner and King bagged two wickets each.
