After being unceremoniously sacked by the Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) over India's non-performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, former Indian player Chetan Sharma has reapplied for the post in the men's senior selection panel.

Apart from Sharma, Harvinder Singh, who was part of the all India Selectors Committee from Central Zone, has also applied for the post according a report published in Indian Express.

Sharma, who headed the four-man panel, was shown the door last month with the BCCI expressing their distrust over the panel given their inconsistent team selections and India's poor outings in the Asia Cup 2022, T20 World Cup 20221, and 2022 editions.

The outgoing panel consisted of Sharma (north zone), Sunil Joshi (south zone), Harvinder (central zone), and Debasish Mohanty (east zone), who have had one of the shortest-stint in BCCI history.

The same report suggested that as many as 60 candidates have applied for the job of chief selector.

Former cricketers like Venkatesh Prasad, Ajay Ratra, Maninder Singh, Nayan Mongia, Salil Ankola, Shiv Sunder Das, and L Sivaramakrishnan are the front-runners for the chief selector's post.
