T20 World Cup 2022: Injury scare for England as Mark Wood complaints of stiffness

Mark Wood has given England a serious injury scare as he refused to take part in a practice session ahead of the semi-finals against India. Wood complained of  'general stiffness' as he pulled up to a practice session.

The English quick did not take part in any of the succeeding practice sessions. Wood has been dealing with his share of injuries for quite some time now. He had also dealt with an ankle injury but England management is optimistic that the recently developed injury is due to the heavy demands of the tournament.

If not Wood then who?

The most probable replacement of Wood will be fellow pacer Tymal Mills, who entered in the squad after Reece Topley's exit from the squad after being ruled out due to an injury.

Another injury concern in the squad is Dawid Malan who walked off the field in one of England's Super 12 stage against Sri Lanka. Malan had pulled his groin while fielding and is still doubtful for the match against India.

England surprised at the pitch

The Three Lions arrived at the Adelaide Oval only to find out that the semi-final will be played on a used pitch rather than a fresh one. The pitch is expected to act like a subcontinent surface.

Ben Stokes commented on the surprise.

"We'll have to wait and see what the wicket does on Thursday but it will be about assessing and adapting to whatever situation we have in front of us."
