Punjab Kings eying Ben Stokes, Sam Curran and Cam Green

After a disappointing last season, IPL franchise Punjab Kings is looking to associate some of the big names with their team. One of the biggest names that is coming up is of star English all-rounder Ben Stokes who could enter the auction this time around.

IPL will return for its sixteenth season next year, but before that a mini-auction will be conducted on December 16 that could attract a lot of stars. Other names that are doing the rounds is of young all-rounders Sam Curran and Cameron Green. 

Stokes, recently have been showing quite a lot of interest recently but his participation remains under major cloud as he will be engaged with national duties for Ashes 2023 straightway after the conclusion of the next edition.

Releases on the cards

Before the next auction, all the teams have been asked to submit a list of players they would like to retain before the next season by November 15. It is expected that the Punjab based side might release Shahrukh Khan, Odean Smith and even current skipper Mayank Agarwal which could free up a lot of space.

Minimum 33 Crores in total will be available to the franchise if they release these three players and add 5 crores from the purse increment. Recently, Shikhar Dhawan was announced as the captain of the side along with Trevor Bayliss as head coach.

Further, there is also a discussion on venue of auction with Istanbul now moving out of reckoning due to logistical challenges.
