Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav has opened up about his change of approach that allowed him to hit top form over the past year.

The 32-year-old has firmly established himself as one of the best players in the shortest format of the game and he will be crucial to India's hopes of winning the T20 World Cup 2022.

The Indian star has recently toppled multiple records in the T20I format. He became the fastest to score 1000 T20I runs in terms of balls faced (573). Suryakumar has the third fastest T20I fifty for an Indian as well.

India began their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against Pakistan on the 23rd of October and the Men in Blue edged out a pulsating thriller thanks to a defining knock from Virat Kohli.

Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for just 15 runs from 10 balls and he will be hoping to bounce back strongly when India take on the Netherlands tomorrow.

The 32-year-old needs to rediscover his match-winning touch in order for India to go all the way. Suryakumar Yadav is a bonafide match-winner who can decide games for his country all by himself.

The player has now revealed how his focus on playing through offside and changing his diet has helped him improve considerably in recent months.

As quoted by Indian Express, he said:

“After 2017-18 me and my wife, Devisha, sat down and decided, let’s do some smart work from here on. You have worked hard, you have come this far, let’s do something else and we will see what happens.

“I started training in a different way. After 2018 I realized what I needed to work on in my game. I started batting more towards the off side. “I started dieting. Did a few things which really helped me in the 2018 domestic season and 2019. And going forward, in 2020 my body was completely different.”
