India and Pakistan played out a thrilling match of T20I cricket on Sunday afternoon.

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli charted an unbeaten 82 to guide his side home in what looked like an impossible win initially.

Pakistan were put to bat first after Rohit Sharma had won the toss for India. The Men in Green had a rough start but they managed to post a competitive total of 159 on the board.

With 160 runs to chase, the Indian top order faltered against the likes of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf.

It was Kohli and all-rounder Hardik Pandya who took it upon themselves to get the job done for India in front of a packed MCG.

The two players paced their innings beautifully to keep India in the chase until the last moment and switched gears in the closing stages to secure a momentous victory for the Men in Blue.

Virat Kohli has now revealed (h/t India Today) his strategy against Pakistan and how he approached the innings alongside Pandya. The 33-year-old revealed that they planned to attack star bowler Haris Rauf and they believed that it would lead to a situation of panic within the Pakistan Camp.

Kohli's plan worked wonders and an expensive over from Rauf unsettled the Pakistan team in a crucial juncture of the game.

"I was just going through the innings, I was like just rotate the strike and hit an odd boundary here and there to keep the scoreboard moving. But Hardik kept pushing me and telling me ho jaayega, we bat deep ho jaayega. Then I found boundaries at the right time but still 50 off three overs and with Haris Rauf to bowl one over, I was thinking it’s going to be challenging.

"I told Hardik one thing if we attack Haris Rauf then Pakistan will start panic. When 28 runs were required from eight balls, then I was just backing myself to score two sixes otherwise we will lose the game."
