The Melbourne Renegades have roped in England's Eve Jones for the upcoming edition of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL). Jones comes in as an overseas replacement player for India's Harmanpreet Kaur, who will join the Renegades a bit later due to her international commitments.

Jones played for the Renegades last season and was the club's third-highest run-getter with 236.

The 30-year-old played in The Hundred Women 2022 for Birmingham Phoenix alongside Renegades captain Sophie Molineux. Other overseas players in the squad include South Africa's Shabnim Ismail and West Indies' Hayley Matthews.

She also leads the Central Sparks team in English domestic cricket. Jones is an opener, who is also well-equipped to bat in the middle order, a role she perfected in her first WBBL season last year.

Renegades' GM James Rosengarten expressed delight over Jones' return

"We’re pleased to have Eve returning to the Renegades. She was a strong contributor for us on the field last year and offers flexibility with where she can slot into our batting order.

Eve already has great relationships within our group and an understanding of the way we want to play as a team, which will help her hit the ground running."

The Molineux-led side start their WBBL 08 campaign against the Adelaide Strikers on October 16.
