The Legends League Cricket 2022 season took an ugly turn in the culminating stages of the tournament. During the first qualifier, India Capitals’ Australian import Mitchell Johnson was involved in a heated exchange with Bhilwara Kings’ all-rounder Yusuf Pathan.

At one stage, Johnson even shoved Pathan during their altercation and has been severely scrutinised for his move.

Ravi Shastri comes down heavy on Johnson

Legends League Cricket Commissioner Ravi Shastri has decided to levy punishment on Johnson. The former Indian cricketer has handed the Australian speedster a fine of 50 percent of his match fees as well as issued an official warning to him.

The official statement of the league reads:

“India Capitals pacer Mitchell Johnson has been handed a warning and a fine of 50 percent of his match fees for involving in a heated argument during the Legends League match at the Barkatullah Khan Stadium on Sunday.”

The incident occurred during the Bhilwara Kings’ innings from the qualifier.

Yusuf Pathan, batting on 32*, smacked Johnson for 6,4 and 6 in succession in the penultimate over of the innings. The speedster dismissed the all-rounder off the very next delivery and it resulted in an altercation between the two.

Amidst the heated verbal exchange, the former Australian speedster aggressively pushed Pathan aside, thus forcing the umpires to intervene the proceedings. Tempers flared further when Yusuf’s brother Irfan Pathan also had a go at the pacer in the same over.
