Hardik batted really well to get us there: Rohit Sharma lauds Hardik Pandya

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma lauded Hardik Pandya's magical 31-ball 70* against Australia that lifted the home side to 208 in the 1st T20I in Mohali on Wednesday.

The seam-bowling all-rounder, en-route to his 2nd T20I half-century, obliterated the Aussie attack to all corners of the PCA Stadium.

Hardik's knock was studded with 7 fours and 5 sixes, and it were his three consecutive strikes off Cameron Green in the final over that powered India past the 200-run mark.

Here's what Rohit Sharma said:

"You can't score 200 everyday, you need to bat well. Hardik batted really well to get us there."

That Hardik Pandya is at the height of his powers as an all-rounder in this format of the game, was once again proved to the hilt on Tuesday as the Baroda cricketer showcased a masterclass in range-hitting.

From nonchalantly whipping the fast bowlers off his legs to going deep in his crease to pick the bones out of an attempted yorker; from dishing out a flat-batted cut through covers to nailing the straight drives with minimum fuss, Hardik's innings had it all.

Unfortunately, India's listless bowling ensured that his innings will not go down in record-books as a match-winning won as Australia rode on blistering knocks from Cameron Green and Matthew Wade to wipe off the target with utmost disdain.

Hardik nearly made an impact with the ball as well , had it not been for a dropped catch from KL Rahul of Steve Smith. He eventually delivered 2 overs which went for 22.
