Cameron Green was a revelation for Australia during the three-match One Day series against New Zealand. Playing the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy, the 23-year-old delivered a scintillating performance both with the bat and ball to steer his team to victory.

Green was the third-highest run-getter with 114 runs in two One Day Internationals at a strike rate of 109.62. He also picked two wickets at an average of 29.00. The impressive performance by the all-rounder has made him the next big thing in Australian cricket. He is also fetching a lot of appreciation and applause from the cricket fraternity.

India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is the latest to heap praises on the Australian all-rounder. Ashwin seemed highly impressed with Green’s hard-hitting abilities. In the first One Day International, Green had smacked a stunning 85 runs off 99 balls.

His 158-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Alex Carey helped the team emerge from the dead while chasing 233 runs in 50 overs. After being rested in the second game, the all-rounder again flaunted his class with the bat in the third game. Green added the finishing touches to Australia’s innings by playing a quick fire knock of 25 runs off 12 balls.

Speaking on his YouTube channel,

“Just when everyone thought how he would do in the one-day format, he is showing his big-hitting prowess. He is striking them big. He has his sweep shot against the spinners. He has the long hits as well. He is a tall fast bowler too.”

The all-rounder’s IPL chances

Further in the video, Ashwin also reflected on Green’s chance of playing in the Indian Premier League. The veteran off-spinner believes that a lot of IPL franchises will be after the all-rounder as he can be a good option for the power play.

Ashwin added,

“Some teams (in IPL) might think of using him in the power play and might go after him in this year’s auctions unless and until he pulls out. I am sure some team will break the bank for him in this year’s auctions.”

Notably, Green is yet to make his debut in the T20 extravaganza
