Veteran England seamer Stuart Broad has said that he does not deserve to be in the same category as his 'hero' Glenn McGrath after the 36-year-old equaled the former Aussie cricketer's tally of 563 Test wickets.

Broad claimed his 563rd Test wicket during the first innings against South Africa in the ongoing 3rd Test at the Kia Oval.

While he has taken 159 Tests and 31933 deliveries to claim 563 wickets, the legendary McGrath took just 124 matches and 29248 deliveries to achieve the same.

Broad, who is now the 2nd highest wicket-taker (for a pacer) in Test cricket after his partner, James Anderson, spoke about equaling his childhood hero's tally on Sky Sports at the end of the proceedings on Saturday.

Here's what Stuart Broad said to Sky Sports:

"He's (McGrath) a hero of mine. I feel like I don't really deserve to be in that sort of category, to be honest, and obviously he's played a lot less games,.

"He (McGrath) was great, one of the greatest bowlers of all time in my opinion. but it feels very special to hopefully get one more and join my mate Jimmy as a one-two in that list of seamers."

Stuart Broad has claimed 6 wickets in the Oval Test thus far

Broad claimed 4 wickets in the first innings of the ongoing Oval Test. He, along with Ollie Robinson, who registered figures of 5-49, were instrumental in England dismissing South Africa for a mere 118 on the 3rd day.

Broad took his wickets tally to 565 Test wickets on Sunday afternoon as he dismissed a well-set Dean Elgar for a 59-ball 36 before trapping Ryan Rickelton plumb in front for 8 shortly afterwards.

At the time of writing, South Africa were 148-8 in the 50th over with an overall lead of 108 runs.
