Riding on Duan Jansen and Dwaine Pretorius's heroics, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots prevailed by four wickets over Guyana Amazon Warriors in Match 10 of CPL 2022 at Gros Islet.

Hetmyer, Hemraj propel Warriors to a competitive total

Opting to bat first, the Warriors lost their opener Paul Stirling (1) early. However, Chandrapaul Hemraj (43) and Shai Hope (20) provided a stable platform for the middle-order.

Arriving at number four, skipper Shimron Hetmyer was flawless with his ball-striking capabilities to put the team in the driver's seat.

With four sixes and a solitary boundary, Hetmyer finished on 46 off 21. In the end, Odean Smith remained unbeaten on 17, as the Warriors posted 162 on the board.

Jansen and Akila Dananjaya picked two wickets apiece for the Patriots.

Pretorius holds nerve to seal an unlikely victory

In response, Andre Fletcher helped Patriots get off to a brisk start with a knock of 41 off 38. The talented duo of Evin Lewis (10) and Dewald Brevis (13) could not contribute much to the team's score.

Smith breached the defense of Darren Bravo (22) to open the floodgates for Warriors. The likes of Sherfane Rutherford and Dwayne Bravo were dismissed on a single-digit score.

However, the all-rounders Jansen and Pretorius still kept the team in the hunt. With 22 runs needed off the last over, Hetmyer handed the ball to Romario Shepherd.

In the first two balls, Patriots accumulated three runs. Then, Pretorius smoked three sixes on the trot to win the maiden game for the Patriots.

Brief Scores:

Guyana Amazon Warriors- 162/6

Shimron Hetmyer 46 (21), Chandrapaul Hemraj 43 (28);

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots- 163/6 (19.4)
