The Hundred 2022: Alyssa Healy praises competition for exceeding her expectations

After missing the inaugural edition of The Hundred Women's League in 2021, Alyssa Healy played for the Northern Superchargers in the ongoing season. The keeper-batter has underperformed in her debut season, scoring just 123 runs in six matches.

Healy was dismissed for a 15-ball 17 against Southern Brave, which is underway at Leeds. Superchargers are placed sixth in the eight-side tournament, with 2 wins and 3 losses.

Healy came into the competition after winning a gold medal with Australia Women in the Commonwealth Games T20 competition.  The 32-year-old spoke about her experience playing in the tournament so far, which has already exceeded her expectations.

"I wasn't sure what to expect. Walking out into that first game I didn't completely know the rules but we rolled with it. It exceeded my expectations because, especially with double headers, it seems that format works really well over here. We've moved away from it in the WBBL to give the women's game its own identity but the way the franchises are set up over here it works really well,"

Healy will next be seen playing in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) for Sydney Sixers, alongside Ellyse Perry, Nicole Bolton, and Ash Gardner. Sixers will be coached by England legend Charlotte Edwards.

"The WBBL is the next big one and Charlotte Edwards is our [Sydney] Sixers coach this year so I'm looking forward to having a little bit of English flare in our side, hopefully, we can have some success there."

Her next assignment for Australia will be against Pakistan, who will tour the Kangaroo nation for a three-match T20I and ODI series in January 2023.
