Dominic Sibley focused on doing well in domestic cricket, amid England's top-order failure

The top-order batter Dominic Sibley is focused on piling runs for the Warwickshire and is not looking far ahead of his international recall. 

In his latest outing for Warwickshire in the Royal London One Day Cup, Sibley hit 89 off 101 balls in a losing cause. A week back, he featured for the England Lions in a four-day warm-up against South Africa and contributed 48 runs. 

The County Championship 2022 witnessed him scoring 625 runs in 11 matches, with two centuries. 

Meanwhile, the England Test team faced a shattering defeat in the first fixture of the home Test series against South Africa. 

The openers, Alex Lees and Zak Crawley could not provide notable contributions, which has given rise to speculations of a comeback for Sibley. 

Sibley's hungry to score runs for Warwickshire

"I am trying to not look too far ahead and to stay in the present," Sibley told Press Association.

"I have games coming up and want to get runs for Warwickshire so that is all I am focused on at the minute.

"From a personal point of view facing an international bowler like (Umesh) Yadav, who bowled at a decent pace, it was good to feel good against a bowler like that but ultimately disappointed I couldn’t kick on and get the team over the line.

"I think overall when I have been batting in the red-ball stuff, it has been about enjoying it a bit more. "

Last International appearance of Sibley 

The 26-year-old last featured for the Three Lions against India last summer. He was dropped from the team following his dismal performance of only 57 runs in four innings. 

Since then, Sibley has been plying his trade for the Warwickshire in the domestic cricket. He will now play for Surrey from the 2023 season.
