Rishabh Pant has disclosed that the Indian players are a little nervous ahead of the Pakistan clash in Asia Cup 2022 but terms it as quite normal. He further added the team's preparations are on the right path for the tournament, which will be a precursor to T20 World Cup.

In the last encounter between the arch-rivals, Pakistan had secured a ten-wicket victory in the T20 World Cup 2021.

India will lock horns with Pakistan on August 28 at Dubai International Stadium, which will be the first fixture of the tournament for both teams.

“That it is bound to happen, a little bit nervous. But there is no reason to worry. Each and every team will be nervous before the big match and series. This is our first match with Pakistan and we will play it to our full potential," said Pant at Visit Victoria event in Mumbai.

“The World Cup 2022 is just a few weeks away, so our team's preparations are 100 percent on the right path. We are constantly working on our process and you will see the positive results in both the series (Asia Cup, World Cup)."

Pant recalls his memories at Melbourne Cricket Ground

The 24-year-old reckoned that the second Test match in the 2020-21 series against Australia at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will be unforgettable for him. This fixture witnessed India making a resounding comeback to secure a victory after suffering a setback in terms of their lowest score (36) in red-ball cricket at Adelaide.

Pant further added that the clash against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 at MCG will give them a sense of playing at home, due to the Indian crowd.

"The crowd plays an important role in T20 and especially at the MCG, we have been feeling like playing at home. With many people of Indian Origin settled in Melbourne, Indian players feel a sense of being at home.”
