KL Rahul back in Indian Team for Zimbabwe series as captain

What is coming as a big news and relief for the Indian team, star opening batter KL Rahul has been cleared to play after being assessed by the BCCI Medical Committee for the upcoming India's tour of Zimbabwe.

Rahul, who was out of action for the most part after the IPL, will also lead the Indian side for three-match ODI series in the African nation. Shikhar Dhawan, originally announced as the captain of the squad will now serve as KL's deputy.

The right-hander was initially dealing from a groin injury for which he had to undergo a surgery in Germany and later, he was ruled out due to Covid-19 before the Windies tour.



BCCI's statement 

"The BCCI Medical Team has assessed KL Rahul and cleared him to play in the upcoming three-match ODI series in Zimbabwe. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has appointed him the captain of the side and named Shikhar Dhawan as his deputy."


India's Squad for Zimbabwe Series

The Indian team will fight against Zimbabwe in three ODIs at Harare on 18, 20 and 21 August. The BCCI has announced an updated squad for this tour.
