Mark Watt retained by Derbyshire for Royal London ODI cup

Experienced Scotland spinner Mark Watt has extended his Derbyshire stay and is set to represent the iconic County Cricket Club in the upcoming Royal London ODI cup. 

In his reaction, Watt admitted to enjoying his stint with Derbyshire. He credited Mickey Arthur and Saeed Ajmal for his evolution as a bowler and considered the premier English ODI tournament a fantastic opportunity to gear up for the T20 World Cup.   

"I’ve loved my time back with Derbyshire so far and I’m looking forward to competing in the Royal London Cup. Working with Mickey, Ajmal and the coaching team here has really helped my development, and playing more white ball cricket can help me ahead of the T20 World."


Arthur lauds Watt

Derbyshire's coach Mickey Arthur was delighted to have Watt for the ODI tournament. He also praised the veteran spinner for his on-field intensity and aggression. 


Notably, Watt picked 13 wickets in the Vitality Blast 2022 and represented Derbyshire against Middlesex and Sussex with moderate success in the County Championship. With his skills and experience, he is expected to win matches on his own for the Billy Godleman-led outfit in the decorated domestic One-Day competition.
