India resumed their afternoon session at 98-1, with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and newcomer Shubman Gill batting at the crease. The two batted with the same aggressive intent as seen in India’s first 12 overs of the innings, until captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Shannon Gabriel at the stroke of lunch.

As it turns out, only three overs were bowled throughout the second session of Day 4 as continuous rains called for an early Tea break.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, in quest of quick second innings runs, perished to West Indies spinner Jomel Warrican against the run of play. His untimely dismissal paved way for wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, who joined fellow newcomer Shubman Gill at the crease.

The two batters took India’s total to 118-2 from 15 overs before ceaseless rains enforced on-field umpires to take early Tea.

Expectations from the final session of Day 4

With India’s lead sailing past the 300-run mark, one can expect both Gill and Kishan to mount lead further in the final session of the day.

The two batters will be aiming to add as many runs as possible, to give skipper Sharma a luxury to call for an early declaration just before stumps.

Brief Scores:

India 2nd innings: 118-2 (15)
Shubman Gill 10*, Ishan Kishan 8*

India lead by 301 runs
