[Watch] Tagenarine Chanderpaul Back Edges Mitchell Starc For A Four

The two-match Test series between Australia and West Indies kicked off today in Adelaide, where the hosts have trampled over the visitors.

After being put into bat by Australian skipper Pat Cummins, West Indies opened the batting with captain Kraigg Brathwaite and youngster Tagenarine Chanderpaul

Chanderpaul, who is playing in Australia for the second time, managed to score just six runs, out of which four came in a bizarre fashion.

While facing Mitchell Starc, Chanderpaul displayed tentativeness and managed to back-edge the ball past the slip cordon, getting a cheeky boundary for himself.

As he was uncertain of his feet movement, the southpaw pulled his bat backwards at the very last moment, which witnessed the ball hit the back of the bat and fly past between gully and backward point.

The 23-year-old could stay in the middle for another 24 balls before Cummins got the better of him in his very first over.

Cummins lured Chanderpaul into a drive, with the latter edging the ball yet again. However, this time the catch went straight to the diving hands of Cameron Green stationed at the gully region.

Riding on bowlers' exceptional performance, Australia restricted West Indies to a paltry 188-run total in their first innings. As of writing, Australia are 25 for one, with Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne unbeaten in the middle.
