The India vs England World Cup 2023 clash at the Ekana Stadium saw a jaw-dropping moment that left everyone in awe. Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav, known for his exquisite shot-making abilities, did not disappoint the fans when he played a sensational shot off Mark Wood.

IND vs ENG: Suryakumar Yadav hit a stunning six off Mark Wood

The moment occurred on the first delivery of the 46th over. With Wood steaming in, he delivered a rapid short delivery on the leg side. Most batters might have chosen to play it safely, given the situation of the Indian innings.

However, Yadav, in his characteristic flamboyant style, shuffled across his crease and executed a wristy flick.

The ball sailed high, arcing gracefully over the fine leg region for a brilliant six. Fans in the stadium erupted in joy, their admiration evident as they watched the ball land beyond the boundary.

Meanwhile, the start of the day witnessed an interesting turn of events. England's captain, Jos Buttler, after winning the toss, chose to field first, marking the very first occasion in this World Cup where India was asked to set the score.

In response, Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, mentioned in his pitch-side interview that India too would have preferred to bat first, had the toss gone in their favour.

However, the Indian batting lineup didn't quite live up to the expectations. Apart from stellar contributions from Rohit Sharma, who played a patient knock of 87, Suryakumar Yadav's fiery 49, and KL Rahul's composed 39, the rest of the lineup stuttered.

The English bowlers managed to dismiss most of the top and middle order for single-digit scores. As the innings reached its twilight, India's score stood at 214/8 in 47 overs. All hopes are now pinned on tail-enders Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav to muster a competitive total.
