Mohammed Siraj and Shubman Gill unintentionally collided on Sunday afternoon during Match 45 of IPL 2024 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Shubman Gill at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. In the process, Gill was about to get run out, only if Virat Kohli broke the stumps with a direct hit from close range.
The incident happened during the second over of GT’s innings when Gill played a drive against Siraj towards mid-off and went for a quick single. However, they collided in the middle of the pitch before Gill put on a desperate dive to save himself. Kohli, charging from his field position, targeted the stumps, but failed to break them.
If Kohli had broken the stumps, Gill would have gone, as his desperate dive could have been gone in vain.

After winning the toss, Faf du Plessis asked GT to bat first, with Glenn Maxwell coming in after an indefinite break due to mental health. As of writing, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan are batting cautiously, on 12* off 14 balls and 13* off 11 deliveries respectively, as the IPL 2022-champions have reached to 35/1 at the end of five overs.
