Sunil Narine tonked a majestic century against Rajasthan Royals in match number 31 of the IPL 2024 season. Marking the first-ever hundred-plus score of his expansive T20 career, the West Indies-based bowling all-rounder smacked 13 boundaries and six maximums in his thunderous knock, and set up foundation of a monumental KKR total upfront.

Apart from entertaining a lively Eden Gardens crowd in Kolkata, Narine even seems to have mesmerized Bollywood superstar and KKR franchise co-owner Shahrukh Khan, who celebrated the cricketer’s batting milestone with much fervor in the stands.

Following the early dismissal of opening partner Phil Salt inside the powerplay, Sunil Narine unleashed an unmitigated rampage on Rajasthan Royals. The cricketer blazed the KKR near the 200-run mark within just 18 overs, and tonked an imperial century while doing so.

Apart from shaping his maiden T20 hundred, Narine’s career-best knock also extended his 20-overs run-tally past the 4,000-run mark.

As one can expect, Sunil Narine enthralled a near-capacity Eden Gardens crowd through his six-laden effort, and even seemingly mesmerized an over-enthusiast Shahrukh Khan in the process. The Bollywood superstar and KKR co-owner, who witnessed Narine’s batting carnage first hand from the stands, stood up and celebrated the occasion with much fervor.KKR eventually ended up listing a staggering 223-6 from their 20 overs, with contributions from Angkrish Raghuvanshi and unbeaten Rinku Singh from the other end.

The Shreyas Iyer-led franchise entered the contest off the back of four wins from five IPL 2024 league fixtures, and a win over Rajasthan Royals at this stage might help them attain the top spot on the points table.
