India slipped from 275/1 to 428/8 on Friday (March 8) in the fifth and final Test match between India and England, taking place in Dharamsala.

This is also a special fixture (100th Test) for two talismanic figures on either side – Ravichandran Ashwin and Jonny Bairstow. Most eyes were on Ashwin, arguably the biggest match-winner in red-ball cricket, and the 37-year-old did not disappoint either. However, he made little impact with the bat in hand, and it was Tom Hartley, who dismissed him with a beautiful delivery.

Coming to bowl the last ball of the 102nd over in India’s innings, Hartley bowled a delivery that pitched on and around the off stump. Ashwin played along the line, assuming the ball would turn. However, it was a sharp slider from Hartley, and as a result, the ball went through the gate to clean him up.

While Ashwin seemed upset while walking off the field after a five-ball duck, Hartley was delighted to get the veteran in the final outing of the series

Meanwhile, India are off to a strong finish on Day 2, having posted 462/8 with Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah in the middle.
