Rajat Patidar had a forgettable outing in his debut Test series against England and has continued that poor run of form in the opening game of IPL 2024. He departed for a three-ball duck against Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk and it seems that the lack of runs at the international level has really affected his confidence.

RCB won the toss and decided to bat first and Faf du Plessis started on a positive note with the opening stand of 41. However, Mustafizur got the better of Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar who walked out at number 3, ended up handing an easy catch to MS Dhoni behind the stumps.

It was the last ball of the 5th over and a good-length delivery, angling across the right-hander.  Rajat Patidar did not move his feet and tried to punch it towards the off side. However, the angle produced an outside edge of his blade and MS Dhoni behind the stumps took a regulation catch.

After Patidar, Maxwell fell for a golden duck off the bowling of Deepak Chahar and from 41-0, RCB were reduced to 42-3 in no time.
