Ravichandran Ashwin trapped Zak Crawley amidst England’s burgeoning ‘BazBall’ approach on Day 3 of the first Test match at Hyderabad. Indian captain Rohit Sharma took a sharp catch at slip after the Indian spinner prompted Crawley for a defensive push with a pitch-perfect off-stump delivery which brushed his outside edge.

As it turned out, Ashwin had also deceived Crawley in the first English innings on Day 1, before eventually concluding his figures with 3-68 from 21 overs.

England, up against a 190-run first innings deficit, got off to a flier on the third morning off the back of Zak Crawley’s opening hour blinder against the Indian spinners. However, his ‘BazBall’ party did not last long as it was eventually crashed by Ravichandran Ashwin for a near run-a-ball 31.

Bowling around the wicket, Ashwin deceived Crawley with a near-perfect off-stump delivery, which brushed his outside edge to jump straight towards Indian captain Rohit Sharma stationed at slips.

Earlier in the match, the Englishmen managed to tally just 246 on Day 1 after captain Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bat first. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja claimed three wickets each in the innings, and the two Indian spinners were the primary architects of England’s first innings downfall through their demolition acts.

Team India overhauled the English total on the second afternoon and ended up securing a 190-run first innings lead off the back of swift 80s from Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul and Jadeja. KS Bharat and Axar Patel also listed handy 40s in the backend while Shreyas Iyer pumped out 35 confident runs from his end.
