MS Dhoni has a habit of surprising his legion of followers with out-of-the-world superpowers. And even at the age of 42, he has been consistently doing it, but everything seemed little after what he produced on Sunday evening during CSK’s IPL 2024 clash against DC in Visakhapatnam.

As many as three sixes and four fours came off Dhoni’s bat during his entertaining 17-ball 36 not out. Of them, two were in the last over, and more significantly, one of those was off the very last ball of the innings. And the bowler was DC’s spearhead in the pace department, Anrich Nortje.

While DC’s win was guaranteed, Nortje bowled a low full toss to Dhoni, who was skillfully waiting for it. The former CSK skipper sent it over cover region for a half-a-dozen, leaving the fans in complete disbelief. In fact, it reminded everyone of how he led by example in India’s 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka.

That time he also finished things off with a six, and Nuwan Kulasekara was the man who was at the receiving end at that point.
